It's a long-standing Decorah Covenant Church tradition--Summer BBQs! We gather in a backyard to share a meal and enjoy each other's company and God's creation. Each attendee brings meat to grill, a dish to share, their own drinks, lawn chairs and plates/cups/utensils. BBQs will be June 26th, July 10th and August 14th beginning at 6:00 p.m. Call the church office at (563) 382-1342 between 9am and 1pm Monday through Friday for locations and directions.

NEW POSITION OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS New As part of a restructuring/transition plan for administrating our mission together, the Decorah Covenant Church Council is announcing a staff opening for a Data and Communications Specialist, a .25FTE (approx. 10 hours/week)www paid position to start as early as mid-June. This posting will be available to Decorah Covenant constituents first for 30 days, and if no suitable candidates are found, made available to the community. The Data and Communication Specialist (DACS) will work in concert with Donalee Burns, whose position will change to the Facilities/Office Manager as this restructuring is implemented. Some of the DACS duties can be performed offsite, but some hours in the church office will be required. SUNDAY IS MOVING DAY FOR KADENS KLOSET:DECORAH Right after services this Sunday at Decorah Covenant Church, volunteers are being sought to help move Kaden's Kloset items from the church basement to KK:D's new location in the Warehouse. If you haven't seen the beautiful new space, here's your chance to take a peek AND serve all at the same time. If you're more of a "down the stairs" kind of person, we also need to move a bunch of chairs from the first floor of the Warehouse to the basement. Up the stairs or down the stairs, we'd love to have you help if you're able!

FREE! FREE! FREE! The renovation of Decorah Covenant Church's Warehouse space has left us with a few free items to give away. There are 2x4 pieces, paneling, plywood pieces, siding, and a slightly damaged air hockey table (don’t know if it works) that are available to anyone who wants them. They will be in the DCC parking lot under the awning through Sunday. Anything left will be hauled away on Monday!

Get ready to walk or run with us on Sunday! World Vision’s "Global 6K for Water" is a one-day event where people from all over the world walk or run 6 kilometers in their own neighborhoods to bring lasting clean water to children in need. Why a 6K? It’s the average round trip distance women and children in the developing world walk for water--water that is often contaminated with life-threatening diseases. The Fey family will be walking, running, and even biking at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. If you'd like to join them, meet at the Skate Park near the Fairgrounds and walk the trail toward the Whippy Dip for 3 kilometers, then head back 3K to your vehicles. At the Midwest Conference Annual Ministry Celebration last weekend in Omaha. Our delegate, Paul Scott, along with Pastor Don and Deanne Holmertz, and Pastor Julie Chamberlain. Julie had a great interview on Thursday with the Midwest Conference Committee on Ministerial Standing and was approved for Ministry License on Friday by the Midwest Conference Ministerial Association. On Sunday afternoon the Decorah Covenant congregational meeting affirmed a call to Julie as our Pastor of Worship and Connections as of July 1. Installation will be July 28. So much to praise God for!

The church in Haiti we are in mission with is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Sheslaire's church held a week long celebration, with church services every night and also special activities, including passing out some of the Bibles several Decorah Covenant Church members brought down on a recent trip.

John 12:13: "So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord-the King of Israel!'” Palm Sunday service at 9:00 a.m. Sunday at Decorah Covenant Church will include the children's walk and the collection of donation cans for Covenant World Relief. Following the service, there will be a youth ministry update during the Sunday school hour at 10:30 a.m.

The Luther College Mime Group, which includes some of the Luther/DeCCAF students, will give a gospel mime performance at 5:00 p.m. Sunday in the Luther Center for Faith & Life Recital Hall of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. No words are used to tell the story, but action occurs all around the audience and music is played that fits the scenes. This ministry is especially powerful for youth, since it gives an opportunity to experience the Gospel in a new way. We would really appreciate it if you could encourage your youth group to come and witness it. There is no cost to attend, however, a free will offering is available. There will be a reception and a time for discussion after the performance in the Qualley Lounge.

The Maundy Thursday Seder Meal at 6:30 p.m. April 18th has now been moved to Shirley Baker Commons at Luther to accomodate the large number of people who have signed up. However, the new location means there is space for you! Since the meal requires planning, you MUST sign up on the clipboards at church by this Sunday, April 14th. Please, invite your friends! At 6:30 p.m. on Maundy Thursday (April 18th), you are invited to participate in a Seder/Passover Celebration here at Decorah Covenant Church. Passover celebrates God rescuing the Israelites from slavery and points to Jesus' death and resurrection. The dinner is meant to be a family celebration, although it might be difficult for the very young to sit through. Since it involves planning, we ask that you sign up at the church by Sunday, April 14th (or call) since we need an exact count so we can ensure there is a place for everyone. MAUNDY THURSDAY SEDER MEAL/PASSOVER CELEBRATION April 18th Sunday, April 14th, will be the last day to sign up to participate in the 6:30 p.m. April 18th Seder/Passover Celebration at Decorah Covenant Church. Passover celebrates God rescuing the Israelites from slavery. It points to Jesus' death and resurrection. The April 18th event is meant to be a family celebration, although it might be difficult for the very young to sit through. Volunteers are needed this Saturday, March 23rd, starting at 8:30 a.m., to paint ceilings and walls at the Warehouse. Bring any painting supplies you may have (pans, brushes, rollers, etc.). We have been making good progress--thanks to those who have helped!

Members of the Tuesday Night Discipleship group (which meets in the Warehouse every Tuesday) are headed out on a mission trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, for Spring Break. Please pray for Josh Tank, Ryan Ferguson, Kathleen Nasser, Kaitlynn Rivers, Emily Lehman, Matt Lagus, Robert Muller, Hanna Dodd, Kailee Paul and Claire Palmquist on this trip March 23rd through March 31st..
